Books for a cause
I wanted to use this post to advertise the efforts some seventh-graders are taking to build a book collection for the Domestic Violence Center.
Four cadette Girl Scouts in Troop 131 are working on their Silver Award, the highest award available to scouts at this level.
They have to complete a series of pre-requisites, which took them the entire school year to complete, and a 40-hour service project, troop leader Melissa Corum said.
For their project, the girls pledged to renovate the Domestic Violence Center’s TV room and library.
They will collect children’s books in good condition through August.
At that time, the girls will paint and redecorate the room, organize a library for kids and adults and install new bookshelves and, hopefully, seating.
To donate, please contact Corum at mgcorum@charter.net.
